Hello friends, families, parents, educators!
Welcome to WePLAY!
As the COVID-19 situation evolved and schools closed indefinitely, families sought enjoyable and simple ways to keep their children healthy, active and engaged at home. And teachers needed support with resources particularly in the area of P.E., health and wellbeing.
In response, WePLAY was created – to help all those primary school teachers, families and children across the country. Now, more than ever, it’s important that we work collaboratively to support the well-being of children. I do hope that this small contribution will help during this challenging time.
We Play is here to help!
WePLAY will offer a collection of FREE online video P.E. lessons to help primary teachers with the unique challenge in teaching P.E. and physical skills while not in the presence of their pupils. While the P.E. class experience in the school can’t be duplicated, we can help our children to continue to learn skills, knowledge and maintain physical activity levels.
Find PE@Home lessons to play anytime at home
Each week, I’ll post a PE@Home lesson for primary school children and their families – to have fun and keep active while learning through movement.
Each lesson will focus on a fundamental movement skill that pupils can practice through enjoyable, creative activities. All activities are designed to be played in the home environment and family participation is championed.
Teachers – please adapt and use the resources as you see fit to meet the unique needs of your pupils. Families can also download lesson resources from our webpage.
Parents – do send in any of your favourite or pictures / videos of your family in action 📸 👟 💥
The most creative pictures demonstrating skill and FUN will be selected for 🌟 “Play of the Week” 🌟
Lastly, I am hugely grateful for those players and athletes, some of Ireland’s best sporting talent and role models, who are participating in this initiative and will appear as surprise “Sports Star Visitors to the Classroom” each week.
I can’t wait to see kids back in school once the recovery from this pandemic begins. Until then, I hope you and your loved ones remain safe and healthy.
